Amber’s journey with Habitat for Humanity began at a pivotal moment in her life. As a mother, she was determined to create a brighter and more stable future for her daughter, Addie, and now her son, Andrew. Amber shared, "This opportunity came about at a time when I was trying to create a better future for my children. Habitat’s mission of putting God’s love into action really moved me and gave me hope for the possibility of homeownership."
Growing up, Amber experienced the sense of security and belonging that comes with having a family home. Her parents built their home with their own hands, with the help of friends and family. “It was home to me,” she recalls. But when her parents divorced, that sense of home was lost as they moved from one apartment or house to another, none of which truly felt like home.
Now, as a parent herself, Amber knows how vital a stable and safe home is for her children’s well-being. “Having the opportunity to help build our home is such an incredible feeling,” she said. “There will be so many memories and stories to share once the building is done, and many more throughout the years.”
Amber envisions a future where her children can thrive. “Once we become homeowners, I hope we feel safe and truly at home. I want Addie to have her own basketball to play and practice with and for Andrew to run free in his backyard. I look forward to us enjoying the outdoors together as a family.”
Amber is deeply grateful for the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity. “I’m so thankful that we were chosen and given this opportunity,” she said.
