A few years ago, a close friend suggested that I (Elizabeth) apply for a home through Habitat of NWA. She’s a Habitat homeowner herself, and she shared how the experience empowered her to achieve so many of her personal and parental goals. Inspired by her story, I decided to apply. I wanted that same empowerment, to be a better mom and to put myself in a stronger position to focus on my life goals.
Homeownership can feel out of reach for so many families, and as a single mom, it has certainly felt like an impossible dream at times. That’s why I’m so incredibly excited and grateful to be building with Habitat for Humanity. The process has already been a journey of growth, it’s been educational, heartwarming, and deeply impactful on my personal development. I’m looking forward to the transformation that comes with building our home.
Breaking the cycle of addiction in my family has been a long and consuming fight. This home represents the start of a new chapter, one filled with hope and opportunity for my children and me. Farrah is 12, Cruz is 9, Victoria is 15, and Nasir is 1.
Farrah plays piano and volleyball, Victoria shines on the softball field and wrestling team, and Cruz is passionate about football. And then there’s Nasir, our little boss who keeps us all on our toes. They’re all straight-A students and truly incredible kids.
This home isn’t just a place to live, it’s the foundation for a brighter future for our family. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to build a home and a better life.
